BATTERY ENGINEER

ROLE 
The battery engineer will be designing and building battery modules and packs from the cell level up. The ideal candidate is ready with ideas on how to improve upon existing architectures and challenge the status quo.​


RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Determine requirements for battery modules and packs 
  • Conceptualize, design, develop and test battery components and concepts.
  • Execute engineering designs from concept to production.
  • Utilize a full spectrum of design, analysis, test, and manufacturing tools to create efficient structures and reliable mechanisms
  • Ownership of product delivery timeline through conception, design, assembly and product launch
  • Collaborate with customers, project/product managers, test engineers and the production team to invent and produce the best product for the given application 
  • Present designs internally
  • Develop test plans for mechanisms through development, qualification, and acceptance testing
  • Plan, schedule, and execute test plans for all levels of product testing, including DV/PV.
  • Manage project schedules to meet customer milestones and guarantee on-time delivery for mass production
  • Interface with outside test houses/vendors to perform required testing, including quoting and scheduling.
  • Perform laboratory testing of components.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or similar
  • Minimum 5 years of battery related experience
  • Ability to demonstrate independent technical problem solving.
  • Experience designing batteries for EV applications, and/or other technical product development experience
  • Good communications and teamwork skills.
  • Familiarity with vehicle Controller Area Network (CAN) communication interface.
  • Familiarity with Vector CANoe/CANanlyzer
  • Experience building a custom BMS is a plus
  • Self motivated
  • Will excel in the startup environment (fast-paced, small team, wear many hats)
  • Obsessed with solving complex problems
